Since my rite of passage ceremony when I was initiated into elderhood three weeks ago, many have asked me to describe if and how I am experiencing myself differently. I don’t really have words right now to explain the subtle, though supremely profound shift I am feeling.
For now, I’ve created a video (and below the text a slide show of behind the scenes photos) to share some of the beautiful and poignant moments from the ceremony itself. One that stands out for me was during a letting go part of the ceremony when a young boy held up a mirror that once belonged to my Mom, for me to look into. The goal was to acknowledge and release limiting beliefs regarding the aging of the human body I’ve absorbed throughout the years.
Instead, I saw only the light of the sun coming over the treetops reflecting off the mirror, a beautiful reminder of the deeper truth of the light within each of us that transcends any human limitations.

The Woman’s Rite first day of filming:
We are excited to share that the first day of filming for “The Woman’s Rite” was a huge success. The day consisted of filming Georgette Star’s rite-of-passage ceremony into conscious wise woman elderhood, both for herself and as a representation for all women going through this life transition. It was a beautiful, sunny morning, and the ceremony powerfully depicted shared wisdom, friendship, multi-generational mentorship, and joyful celebration.
The ceremony included a symbolic releasing of old paradigms, celebrating new empowered beliefs, and crossing a threshold into this new phase of life. Many people from Georgette’s life spoke about the impact she has had on them, and we all shared a delicious meal to celebrate the day’s achievements. To everyone who contributed to make this day happen—crew and participants alike—thank you! It couldn’t have been a more successful event.
We are now moving on to filming the interviews that will be interwoven with the ceremony footage. This will take place throughout September, and we are very excited to capture the wisdom of the wise women who will be participating in the film.
